ABOUT US
Performing for a better society
Nathalie Ribette
Since its inception in 2006 SINGāTHEATRE has reflected the multicultural identity of its founder, Nathalie Ribette, who was born in France but has considered Singapore her adopted home for over 20 years.
After 10 years in marketing and sales for international companies in Franceās health sector, Nathalie caught the musical theatre bug after relocating to Singapore in 1996. She launched her professional career in 1998 with a turn in Starmania, a rock musical staged at the Alliance Francaise. She has been directed by Selena Tan and George Chan, has shared the stage with Singaporean household names like Kumar and Hossan Leong and has toured with W!ld Rice.
In 2002 with stage experience under her belt and a pregnancy literally under her belt (her daughter Alice), Nathalie debuted as a producer/director with a Franco-Singaporean version of Notre Dame de Paris, the musical, at the Alliance Francaise, with the encouragement and guidance of her mentors in the field. Thus began Nathalieās artistic specialty of producing and directing musical revues blending French soul with Singaporean sensibilities. A Singaporean in Paris, sold out in 2010 and 2014, is the epitome of her creative genius.
As a teacher herself and a strong believer in the importance of performing arts as a powerful tool for boosting social skills and creativity, Nathalie launched SINGāTHEATRE ACADEMY in 2014, which offers classes to musical theatre lovers from all walks of life.
As a music lover Nathalie regularly sings professionally and knowing the healing power of music has been committed to bringing music to hospitals in Singapore for the past three years.
Nathalie was recognized in 2007 by the American Womenās Association of Singapore (AWA) for her āextraordinary effort and outstanding contributions to the arts, culture and education in Singapore.ā In 2010 the French Minister of Culture and Communication, Frederic Mitterrand, honored her with the award of Knight in the Order of Arts and Literature. She has also been described by TimeOut as one of the few āfantastically capable foreign talents in Singapore.ā
