Forever Young
THE HILARIOUS 2017 SOLD OUT MUSICAL IS BACK
Dates: 22 Sept to 3 Oct 2021
Venue: DRAMA CENTRE THEATRE
Ticketing: On Sistic
Hold on to your wigs and dentures as Sing’theatre brings back the hilarious sold-out jukebox musical Forever Young!
Written by Swiss playwright Erik Gedeon and adapted by Benjamin “Mr Miyagi” Lee, the Singaporean version of this European cult hit features a star-studded cast of local actors.
Set in the year 2071, Forever Young chronicles the life of a group of retired actors living in a nursing home. These zany nonagenarians – former pillars of Singapore’s Arts scene – are determined to prove that it is not all behind them. The residents do as they are told, but, once their no-nonsense caregiver Sister Sara leaves the room, the pensionable performers belt out musical theatre canons, rock classics, and more – the way that only old people can!
Directed by Hossan Leong, Forever Young features prominent actors Karen Tan, Julian Wong, and Leong himself who will reprise their roles. They will be joined by favourite Radio personality Denise Tan, Mark Waite, Kimberly Chan, and Gurmit Singh, Singapore’s iconic funnyman, who makes a comeback to the theatre scene after a hiatus of 16 years.
Through the cast’s arthritic dance moves and renditions of familiar songs that include Jay-Z’s Forever Young, Bruno Mars, and Silk Sonic’s Leave The Door Open, and Aqua’s Barbie Girl, this eponymous musical revue addresses dementia and other conditions associated with ageing.
Whatever you make of these issues, you can be sure this gaggle of geriatrics will never go gentle into that good night, but burn and rave and rock and roll at the close of day.

Dear Patrons,
The health and safety of our audiences and artists is our top priority.
In line with the latest public health advisories, we will be implementing Pre-Event Testing (PET). Fully vaccinated patrons are exempt from PET.
All other audience members must take a fast and painless Antigen Rapid Test before the show. Please note that for all Wednesdays shows PET will be provided free of charge at The Drama Centre Theatre. For all other days, patrons must take the Antigen Rapid Test from the list of approved clinics within 24 hours of the show on their own expense. This is in addition to our pre-existing safety measures, which include socially distant seating, anti-microbial shield coating of all surfaces, and temperature screening. All patrons will also need to use TraceTogether to enter the venue.
We look forward to welcoming you to the theatre!
Pre-Event Testing FAQ (to be added in tab after admission rules in the product)
What is a Pre-Event Test (PET)?
A “Pre-Event Test” refers to a COVID-19 test taken by an attendee or patron who wishes to enter a venue where selected events, businesses, or activities are being held. This attendee or patron must have a valid negative COVID-19 test result taken within a specified period of time, before being allowed to enter the venue or participate in the event, business, or activity.
What test will I be taking for PET?
You will be taking an Antigen Rapid Test (ART). ART’s quicker turnaround time gives you more assurance that your visit to the theatre will be covered by the remaining validity period of the test, after receiving the result. ART is a quick & painless test which involves nasal swab from lower part of nose. For info, the time from swab registration to notification of results is typically around 30 minutes for ART. Where will the PET take place?
On Wednesdays (22 & 29 September), the PET will take place onsite at the Drama Centre Theatre. Information on booking the time slot will be sent to you via email. For all other days, the PET will take place externally. Here is the list of Approved Providers for Antigen Rapid Testing for COVID-19 at Offsite Premises >> https://www.moh.gov.sg/covid-19/pet
Will I have to pay for PET on my own?
Sing’theatre will bear the cost of the PET conducted on Wednesdays at the Drama Centre Theatre. For the PET test taken externally on all other days, the patron will bear the cost of the PET.
I’m taking the PET externally, when should I take my PET and how long will the results be valid for?
The PET must be taken within 24 hours of the end of the show. For example: If you wish to attend our Friday 9pm show (which ends at 10.30pm), your PET test must be taken after 10.30pm on Thursday. Thus, we strongly encourage patrons to take the test on Friday morning or afternoon in this case.
If I have been vaccinated, am I still required to do PET?
PET will only be exempted if you have been fully vaccinated at least 14 days before the performance date you are attending. For example: if you wish to attend our show on 22 September, you will need to have had your second dose before 8 September.
Do children aged 12 & below need to go for PET?
Children aged 12 years and below may be exempted from pre-event testing. Exempted children must only be in the same group as other children in their household. However, they can be in the same group as other individuals aged 13 years and above who are either: (i) fully vaccinated; (ii) recovered from COVID-19; or (iii) have obtained a negative result on a Pre-Event Test taken in the past 24 hours before the expected end of the event.
I do not want to go for PET, can I still come for the show?
Under the current MOE guidelines, PET is necessary for all live performances. Please visit https://www.moh.gov.sg/covid-19/pet for details.
What if I am late for my PET?
Please be punctual for your PET time slot. The test results will be available within 30 minutes. If you are late, you will only be allowed admission at a suitable pause.
