Who is a Super Star?
A Super Star is a budding young performer aged 7-9 who loves to sing, dance and act or is ready to learn all three skills. Many of our Super Stars attend music, drama or dance lessons at school and come to Sing’theatre Academy to put all three skills together. Our Super Stars are full of energy, enthusiasm and confidence and not only love performing, but working together as a team to put on a show. Our professional teaching staff are there to guide all our superstars to confidence on stage, and our classes are perfect for those children who already make a show out of everything in life, to those who need a little extra help and encouragement along the way.
What can Superstars lead to?
Many of our Super Stars will progress through the academy initially onto our West End Stars class when they turn 10 through to our teens and adult classes and beyond. Our students will regularly be invited to perform in our Sing’theatre Community Outreach projects such as Music Fest and Singathon.

Our Stage Door course is designed to give students an experience of performing musical theatre songs and scenes live on stage to a supportive audience as well as developing skills in singing, dancing and acting. We believe in working as an ensemble and we will focus our efforts in working in a full ensemble and smaller group scenes of 3-4 performers to allow everyone to experience the skills of performing alongside others, having their moment on stage but without the pressure of a cental lead role or stressful solo moment. Our focus on ensemble gives everyone a chance to be featured and challenged at their own unique level as our staff choose songs and scenes that are tailored to everyone’s individual performance journey.
Each week the teacher will design songs and scenes for students to work on that will eventually be placed in the final showcase. These are specifically chosen to bring new skills and techniques to the course to allow everyone to not only practice for the showcase but improve their skills along the way.
Week 1 will start with a full group song and dance number where students will learn ensemble choreography and harmonies. Then week by week, students will be placed into smaller groups to work on songs and scenes from a variety of exciting musical theatre shows giving everyone an exciting role to focus on in their showcase.
Please note from time to time we do encourage students to get together to have extra individual practices before the showcase.
Students get to perform in a musical theatre showcase in our Blackbox theatre. With professional lighting and sound and directed by professionals, our showcases are a magical and intimate experience performing to a supportive audience of friends and family.
This advanced course is designed exclusively for students with prior experience in AMTC or Showstopper, offering a deeper exploration of acting techniques, ensemble work, and performance artistry. Students will analyze script and song and integrate their research in performances of small group numbers, focusing on character development, emotional authenticity, and dynamic storytelling.
A key emphasis of the course is navigating diverse group dynamics, fostering collaboration, and building strong ensemble connections. Students will learn how to harmonize their individual contributions with the group’s overall performance, creating cohesive and impactful scenes. Whether exploring layered relationships in a duet or bringing vibrant energy to a trio or small group, participants will deepen their understanding of teamwork and elevate their artistry through shared creative expression.

Our Showcase semester is uniquely designed to develop our West End Stars Triple Threat skills, bringing together their Singing, Dancing and Acting skills alongside their stagecraft and stage discipline too. West End stars will work on several three week long projects focusing on different popular musicals. Breaking the semester into individual proejcts allows us to not only learn the skills but learn more about different shows in more detail. The curriculum is both challenging their skills and keeps them engaged and motivated in their learning.
Each three-week project throughout the semester will focus on one musical and then engage students will song, dance and scenes from this show learning about the show, its history and the charaters within the learning.
An example curriculum breakdown would be if we work on the musical Matilda:
Week 1 – Introduce the show, characters and plot. Learn the choreography & dance style for Revolting Children.
Week 2 – Revise choreography for Revolting children, work on singing skills for this song focusing on harmony and vocal style, look at characters in the scene leading up to the song
Week 3 – After learning the scene over the last week students will be put into groups of 3 to be directed in the scene leading up to the song. Students will then perform the scene and the song back to each other in class and asked to remember the performance for the end of semester showcase.
Usually in a semester we would focus on 4 shows and then have other additional one-off skills workshops to cover other specific performance or industry skills.
The goal for this semester is process driven but along the way students will prepare for a small end of semester presentation. It is important that the West End stars spend time to hone their skills rather than just always focusing on the show or end product so throughout the semester they will be encouraged to reflect on their own learning journey and progress.
The focus of the curriculum is to build each individual students performance skills through ensemble-based learning developing the skill of mastering your own performance alongside listening and working with your fellow actors on stage.
At the end of the semester, our West End Stars will gather selected performance items from their three-week projects this semester to showcase to friends and family in our end of term showcase. This is billed as a presentation of work rather than a show and a chance for students to put their new skills to practice, reflect on the achievements they have made and for parents to see the progression of their skills.
Our skills semester is uniquely designed to develop our Broadway Stars Triple Threat skills, bringing together their Singing, Dancing and Acting skills alongside their stagecraft and stage discipline too. Broadway stars will work on several three week long projects focusing on different popular musicals. Breaking the semester into individual projects allows us to not only learn the skills but learn more about different shows in more detail. The curriculum is both challenging their skills and keeps them engaged and motivated in their learning.
The Broadway Stars curriculum is an extension of our West End Stars but focuses in more detail and with more challenging and age appropriate shows and themes.
Each three-week project throughout the semester will focus on one musical and then engage students will song, dance and scenes from this show learning about the show, its history and the characters within the learning.

The repertory pathway will take 9 performers through the process of devising, creating, writing and performing a brand new musical revue in response to the COVID19 pandemic. The performers will work with director TJ Taylor on collecting real-life stories from Singapore and develop monologues, scenes and songs inspired from the events of Circuit Breaker. The 9 performers will work as an ensemble reparatory company working closely together developing a meaningful performance that will be presented in a virtual production at the end of the course. Students will get to be involved in not only the performance, but creation, direction and design of the final production, taking ownership and pride in creating a new theatrical work.
The course is most suited to performers with some prior experience in performing as there will be more time given to creation and performance than skills development.
Devising, acting and dance rehearsals will be live at the Sing’theatre studios but singing will be rehearsed through 1-1 sessions arranged at alternative timings.
The final show will be recorded or presented live to public audience through either Zoom or a live stream platform.

Singing lessons focusing on developing strong, safe and versatile vocal technique
Everyone can sing….but to be a ‘Singer,’ mastery and understanding of vocal technique is key!
TJ has taught singing around world to students of all ages and abilities. The focus of his teaching is to train the student to understand the physical process of singing so they can easily manipulate their voice into any genre of music. Once a student has a firm basis of their technique, he then helps the singer develop style, emotion and characterisation.
TJ teaches most genres of singing however his specialty is musical theatre. Combining voice technique with acting techniques, TJ merges the two disciplines to help the singer make appropriate vocal choices that reflect the acting and performance needs of the song. Having trained and worked as a performer as well as sitting on many audition panels, he can help students create the perfect performance or audition song that is grounded in technique and confidence.
TJ currently lectures voice technique and musical theatre repertoire classes on the Musical Theatre Degree at Lasalle College of the Arts Singapore. He also teaches private lessons both to beginners and professional performers across Singapore, helping them understand their voice and nail their performance.
