A moment of Magic to Remember

“I am extremely honoured to be a part of this project. Seeing the smiles and laughter that we brought to all the children at the pilot run was so rewarding and humbling. It gave us renewed passion to make this project as exciting as possible for all the children going through these extraordinarily tough circumstances at such a young age,” expresses TJ Taylor, Creative Director of Sing Me A Story and Head Teacher of the Sing’theatre Academy. He adds, “I am thrilled to be working with this group of passionate performers who all have such a desire to make a difference to the lives of the children in the wards.”

As part of its 10th anniversary celebrations, Sing’theatre launches Sing Me A Story @ NUH, a community theatre, site-specific project that brings songs, music and storytelling straight to the beds at the paediatric wards. The project will launch on 19 April 2017 and will run weekly till December 2017.

Committed to performing for a better society, Sing’theatre took inspiration from the way clown doctors brought cheer to the beds of young patients and combined it with its signature style of music and theatre for Sing Me A Story. Dressing and acting as superheroes, princesses or pirates, the cast will perform short scenes that chronicle the magical and exciting lives of each character, momentarily transforming each ward into a fairytale land. The interactive musical performances, injected with fun and humour, will include popular songs from children’s movies, Disney films as well as pop artists.

Parents and nurses will also be encouraged to sing along and join in the fun. Following the performance, every child in the wards will have his or her personal interaction with the characters, allowing the child to experience a special moment with his or her new magical friend.
