COVID-19 *New* Update
Heightened Alert
16 May 2021
Dear Sing’theatre Family,
Sing’theatre Academy would like to thank all of you for your patience and compliance with all the measures we have been putting in place during the current situation regarding COVID-19.
In line with the increased COVID 19 measures announced, we have taken some important decisions with our student safety at the forefront of our minds.
Classes
It’s with a heavy heart that we share that effective Sunday 16th May, all our musical theatre classes will be suspended until August. This was a tough decision to make, and we want to explain why we have arrived at this decision. Musical Theatre is about Singing, Dancing, Acting, and also the connection with your fellow actors. Under the current restrictions, students can only be in bubbles of 2, must keep their masks on at all times, be extremely socially distanced, and no singing allowed. The regulations have made all shows & in-person classes impossible to stage and conduct.
Rather than continue classes with no possibility of putting on a show, we would like to give the students the best chance of salvaging their hard work in some format. Due to this, we have decided to move the last four weeks of our current semester to August (from 2nd to 28th August 2021) before the start of our new semester in September. We hope that restrictions will have lifted in August and we will be allowed to record highlights of our shows with costumes and lights in our Theatre.
We know that students will be disappointed not to perform the shows as they have rehearsed so hard. However, we must do our part in an even bigger play to keep each other safe. We hope to give our students the best experience for the remaining four weeks rather than rushing an online curriculum with this solution.
