MUSICFEST@SGH 2018
12 May 2018
MusicFest@SGH was conceived from the belief that of the many wonderful benefits music can offer, its ability to uplift the spirit and heal is what is needed most during a patient’s journey to recovery. It was exactly this belief that kickstarted the first ever edition of MusicFest@SGH in 2013, backed by the generous support of Novartis and jointly organised by SGH and Sing’theatre.
The concept of MusicFest itself stems from a commonly celebrated tradition that has its roots in France, known as the Fête de la Musique, or in English, World Music Day, where musicians from all walks of life celebrate the first day of summer by playing music all through the streets of France on the 21st of June.
In past editions of MusicFest@SGH, Sing’theatre has been privileged to welcome onboard a few big names, such as notable theatre and television personality Hossan Leong as well as singer and former Singapore Idol contestant, Daphne Khoo. This year was certainly no different, with artists such as Benjamin Kheng, Chua Enlai and Peter Diaz gracing the stage of MusicFest@SGH 2018.
MusicFest@SGH 2018 saw an overwhelming number of participants joining this year, with 260 performers coming onboard to volunteer for a good cause, and for the first time ever, the music will carry on till December as performers return to make their rounds at the SGH wards entertaining patients with one-hour gigs starting June.
